Amblygobius Gobies are also known as sand sifting Gobies. They are hardy, excellent beginner fish but should not be housed with more aggressive fish. Sand sifting Gobies should be housed in singles, but a mated pair may be successfully housed together. Typically found near sandy, muddy reef areas provide an aquarium with plenty of sand and rock work. Sand sifting Gobies are reef safe but may pick at small crustaceans. Feed an omnivorous diet with plenty of meaty and algae-based foods multiple times daily. If not readily eating, try a diet of fortified live Brine shrimp or black worms. Provide an aquarium with a tight-fitting lid as they may jump.
Rainfords Goby are also known as the Court Jester Goby, shows mainly white to dark tan, thin red to orange stripes and a black eyespot on its dorsal and caudal peduncle. Rainfords Goby can grow up to 8cm in length.
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 40L or larger for this species.
