Pomacanthus zonipectus
Pomacanthus Angelfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work, caves, cracks and crevices should be provided for grazing and hiding. Pomacanthus angels may pick at sponge, tunicates, benthic organisms or sessile invertebrates. A diet of meaty and algae based foods along with Angel preperations which include sponge should be provided. Care will need to be taken when handling Angelfish as they have cheekspines, avoid using nets when handling. Pomacanthus Angelfish are hermaphroditic meaning they may have both sex organs at some point in their lives. Juvenile Pomacanthus Angelfish may exhibit colour or pattern differences. May be territorial towards other Angelfish with the same shape.
The Cortez Angelfish is an incredibly beautiful Angelfish with marked colour differences between the juveniles and adults. Juveniles are a brown to black colour overall. They have six bright yellow bands and the dorsal and pelvice fins have bright blue edges. Adults are a duller colour and therefore less commonly collected. They are varying shades of gray with 2 yellow vertical bars near its head. Cortez Angelfish can grow up to 50cm in length.
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 1000L or larger for this species.
Due to variations within species and age of fish, your item may not look identical to the image provided.
