Synanceia Verrucosa
Synanceia should be added to a well established aquarium with a tight fitting lid. There should be plenty of rock work, caves, crevices and overhangs for hiding. Reef Stonefish are not reef safe and will hunt small fish, crustaceans, and anything else they can fit in their mouth. Care will need to be taken when feeding and cleaning the aquarium as they can be camouflaged, often looking like an encrusted rock or lump of coral. The Reef Stonefish has thirteen stout dorsal fin spines which can inject an extremely poisonous venom.
Barrier Reef Stonefish show a brown or grey and may have patches of yellow, orange or red.
Barrier Reef Stonefish grow up to 35cm in length.
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 500L or larger for this species.
